Helping pets to lead happy and healthy lives

Medical History

After reading your own vet’s notes, a full clinical examination and further history will allow us to assess whether your pet’s problem is due to acute and/or chronic pain.

We then look at whether the pain is caused by:

  • inflammatory pain (e.g. arthritis),
  • neuropathic pain (either inflammation or damage to nerves),
  • visceral pain (arising from internal organs).
  • secondary muscle (myofascial) pain, following alterations to your pet’s posture
    or gait.

Having evaluated the type of pain, Fergus also assesses your pet’s behaviour for
any indications of suffering. Chronic pain often has a combination of causes
.
